Technologies for Intercultural Communication – IPP

About this course

Digital Technologies surround us, as does communication in an increasingly global network. The ability to critically analyze and select digital tools to apply to different types of communicational contexts is essential. The course promotes cultural awareness, intercultural communication competencies and skills, and digital and media competence.

Expected learning outcomes

The student is expected to: – Master basic concepts for the course such as intercultural communication and multimedia tools; international communication mediation; – Demonstrate a solid knowledge of issues and perspectives surrounding the basic concepts; – Independently and critically analyze intercultural communication technologies used; – Apply specific technological skills to support the process of intercultural communication.

Indicative Syllabus

We expect students to be able to complete the following activities: 1. Discuss the context and challenges of communication in the globalized market; 2. Identify examples of cultural diversity in international communication; 3. Critically review the available types of strategies used in digital intercultural communication; 4. Select the most appropriate (possible) digital tools for specific international verbal and non-verbal communication; 5. Use multiple digital tools to support the intended international verbal and non-verbal communication; 5. Discuss the role of translation in international communication; 6. Master strategies and techniques for digital intercultural communication organization; 7. Master visual, audio, and multimodal tools for digital communication. 8. Review and control the quality of multimodal texts.

Teaching / Learning Methodology

Teaching and learning methodologies include Flipped-learning and PBL. Assessment is based on oral presentations and projects.
