Research Methodologies – IPP

About this course

Welcome to the Research Methodologies course! This foundational course is an integral part of the Master’s program. Besides, it is intended to support dissertations or research projects in your Bachelor’s or Master’s Programme. Supporting the work you must complete at the end of a program or course is also crucial. It is made to give you the fundamental know-how and abilities required to succeed in academic research. Whether you’re planning to pursue a career in academia, business, or any field involving critical analysis and problem-solving, this course will provide the tools to conduct rigorous and impactful research.

Expected learning outcomes

LO1 – Understand what qualitative research is; LO2 – Understand what quantitative research is; LO3 – To know some of the main types of qualitative research in the context of Social Sciences: Action Research, Case Study, Design Science Research, and others; LO4 – Be able to plan a research project; LO5 – Collect and analyse data using the appropriate collection and analysis tools; LO6 – Organise a literature review; LO7 – Prepare and write a state-of-the-art; LO8 – Apply bibliographic standards: in citations, bibliographic references, footnotes, etc; LO9 – Manage, in an automated way, a list of references in a document; LO10 – Write scientific articles, book chapters, reports, posters, monographs, and theses; LO11 – Apply Ethical Research Practices; LO12 – Understand the process of submitting scientific papers to scientific journals, conferences and other scientific communication channels;
