About this course

The course is an introduction to law, with a special focus on the Portuguese and European legal systems.

Expected learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able: – To grasp the specifics of legal thinking and language; – To comprehend the multi-level nature of the protection of individual rights; – To understand “key concepts”, in areas of law that are relevant for their future professional life; – To solve practical cases through analysis and legal reasoning.

2. Sources of law; General Principles of Law; Legal norms

3. Divisions within the legal systems: Branches of law

4. Civil Law

5. Company Law

6. Contract law.

7. Intellectual property law

8. Consumer and advertising law

9. Registration systems

Teaching / Learning Methodology

Weekly Lectures (3hr/week) of a theoretical-practical nature, implying both theoretical expositions and the critical discussion of case studies.
