Interaction of ion beams with matter – UO

About this course

Expected learning outcomes

Provide students with a clear understanding of the fundamentals of ion interaction with matter and its main applications in materials science

Indicative Syllabus

This course will be divided into four main areas: – The fundamentals of interaction between the impeding ion and matter : energy loss (electronic and nuclear energy transfers), collision cascades, ion energy effect, the effect of ion nature – The effects of these interactions in matter : defects and impurities ; simulation tools – Production of ion beams : implantors, accelerators – Various applications in the field of material sciences
