Economics – IPP
About this course
The curricular unit aims to provide the students with the knowledge of the principals and economic concepts in general, in a macroeconomic and microeconomic perspective. The curricular unit’s program contemplates the study of the main questions raised in the goals, including the economy’s and enterprise economy’s characterization, the basic theories of the agents and its confrontation in the market, macroeconomic structures, the state’s role as regulator of the economic activity.
Expected learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to: Explain market concept, structure and features Explain consumer’s behaviour logics and reveal factors affecting consumer’s choice. Explain producer’s (entreprise) behaviour under different market conditions. Identify and analyse indicators of microeconomic and macroeconomic business environment.
Indicative Syllabus
Economic theory concept (notion, development, objects, methods, values, structure and etc.) Market concept (structure; functioning preconditions, features, demand and supply, elasticity theory). Utility theory. Consumer’s behaviour theory. Production theory. Producer’s behaviour. Enterprise in a competitive environment. Production resources markets. National product concept of aggregate demand and aggregate supply balance. Cycles of economic activity. Fiscal and monetary policies. Main macroeconomic problems
