Business Ethics – IPP
About this course
The course is an introduction to ethical decision-making in the business environment, with a high focus on the development of practical skills development, based on a set of guiding principles and theories.
Expected learning outcomes
1.1. Identify common types of unethical behaviours in the workplace. 1.2. Describe how unethical behaviours can be very costly to organizations. 1.3. Explain the competitive advantages of creating and maintaining an ethical organization. 1.4. Describe different theories of human nature as related to ethics at an individual’s time of birth. 1.5. Explain the stages of moral development. 1.6. Discuss why good people occasionally behave unethically. 2.1 Identify the different factors within the ethical behaviour model. 2.2 Prepare and prioritize seven rational ethical decision-making questions. 2.3 Compare how the six ethical theories differ from one another. 2.4 Apply the systematic rational ethical decision-making framework to business dilemmas. 2.5 Persuade someone who reasons according to an ethical theory different than the ethical theory you normally use. 2.6 Recognize warning signs that an unethical decision is approaching.

Teaching / Learning Methodology
The Teaching-Learning methodology is based on the discussion and resolution of practical cases and ethical dilemmas (structured and unstructured decisions), following the international recommendation for the field of study (Global Business Education Network and Association). Active individual and group argumentation is encouraged. The activities also include blind peer review, where students evaluate and score the ethical decisions of others in a structured way, and the development of ethical workshops to solve common problems in the workplace.
