Theory of Electromagnetic Field – VGTU

About this course

The subject focuses on fundamentals of the main laws of macroscopic electromagnetic field, plane electromagnetic waves propagating in unlimited and limited medium, their reflections, refraction and interference. General theory of waveguides. The course is mainly designed to be studied the metal rectangular, circular waveguides and cavity resonators. In addition some information may be provided about dielectric, plasmonic and other waveguides application in biology and medicine.

Expected learning outcomes

Students will learn the basic laws of electromagnetic wave propagations. Will get to know some properties of different media and distributions of their electrical and magnetic fields. Will be able to apply the theory of waveguides, cavity resonators. Acquire practical knowledge about an investigation of electromagnetic waves.
