Services of General Interest in the European Union – UMCS

About this course
The module covers knowledge of services of general interest in the European Union. It provides a characterisation of comparative law, in particular comparative administrative law. It covers knowledge of the legal regulation of services of general interest. It reviews the basic concepts and institutions of comparative administrative law, exemplifying the role of the unification of administrative law and, in particular, the role of administrative law in the European area. The lecture will analyse the different systems related to services of general interest. The module develops the ability for comparative legal analysis in the area of different systems and specific legal solutions, interrelationships within services of general interest and the doctrine of administrative law.
Expected learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE: 1. the student knows and understands the concepts in the field of comparative law, comparative administrative law, knows where and in which context they are used – K_W_01; 2. student knows and understands legal regulations defining relations between authorities and institutions – K_W_04; 3. student knows and understands the subject of issued decisions, taking into consideration the process of law application – K_W_09; 4. student knows and understands rights and duties of public administration bodies, officials and citizens – K_W_13; SKILLS: 1. a student is able to interpret and apply the provisions of administrative law and other acts of lawmaking regulating the status of administrative bodies – K_U_02; COMPETENCES: 1. the student is ready to work in a group, acting in different roles – K_K_05; 2. the student is ready to determine priorities necessary to implement tasks set by him/herself or others – K_K_09
