About this course

The lecture deals with the problems of legal protection of intellectual property in the EU. The subject includes a presentation of the basic issues of intellectual property protection. The matter discussed concerns EU regulations both in the area of industrial property law and copyright law. The analysis of EU law is made in relation to specific areas of intellectual property, in particular: patent law, trademark law, industrial design law and copyright law. The aim of the course is to provide students with information on the importance, mechanisms of intellectual property protection in the EU.

Expected learning outcomes

Knowledge: 1. the student knows the basic concepts of intellectual property and understands the need for their use in work related to the field of study 2. student knows and understands the basic mechanisms governing the relationship violator of intellectual property rights – entitled from intellectual property rights; knows the concepts related to the protection of intellectual property rights, understands their meaning and the need to use them in work related to the field of study 3. the student knows the basic rights associated with the possession of intellectual property rights Skills: 1. a student is able to analyze selected factual states in terms of intellectual property protection and solve problems arising in the performance of work related to the field of study with the use of knowledge of intellectual property protection 2. the student is able to recognize and describe the impact of specific legal regulations on the situation of the infringer of the exclusive right Competencies: 1. the student is ready for continuous professional development as a graduate student in the field of knowledge of intellectual property protection; he/she is aware of deepening his/her own knowledge and skills in the field of industrial property protection 2. student is ready to show sensitivity to the problems of infringement of exclusive rights; is ready to modify stereotypes of infringement of intellectual property rights and present sensitivity to situations of infringement in the subject area
